Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will look to double their points tally when they take on a deflated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) side at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday, March 27.
Sunrisers got their Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL) campaign off to a rollicking start as they defeated Rajasthan Royals by 44 runs on a batting paradise at home last week. The Orange Army amassed the second-highest team total in IPL history (286/6) on the back of Ishan Kishan’s blazing century. Heinrich Klaasen, Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Nitish Kumar Reddy also made crucial contributions to pummel the Royals’ bowling attack.
In reply, the inaugural champions fought hard but eventually fell short by 44 runs. Harshal Patel bowled a brilliant spell through the middle overs after Simarjeet Singh bagged a couple of wickets with the new ball.
Meanwhile, LSG would be gutted after their defeat to Delhi Capitals in their opening fixture. Blistering half-centuries from Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran gave the Super Giants a stunning platform. However, they lost wickets through the middle phase and at the death, finishing on 209/8.
Lucknow’s bowlers wreaked havoc in the initial phase of Delhi’s innings, accounting for five wickets inside the first seven overs. However, Tristan Stubbs and Vipraj Nigam kept the Axar Patel-led side’s hopes alive with some exemplary hitting. In the end, it was Ashutosh Sharma’s awe-inspiring knock of 66 not out off 31 balls that took Delhi to a one-wicket victory with three balls to spare.
